Fried Chicken Roll Recipe

This is a proper savory snack which is heavy at heart. We all love street food because who doesn't, but also we cannot eat outside food more often as its not good for our health. There is this particular vendor we usually get these chicken rolls from which taste juicy and crispy for every single bite but then suddenly there was a day we noticed that the shop is no longer available and we knew that we will never be able to taste those rolls again.

So later that week i decided to give a quick google search for the similar recipe and tried to recreate the same, after many failure versions finally we have found the prefect home friendly recipe.


Chicken roll is very similar to spring rolls but the wrappers is bit heavy and can be made from scratch at very few simple steps. We used chicken fillings but you can use any type of fillings according to your preferences. This snack can be a bit heavy as it is been deep fried. I hope you guys try and enjoy this recipe as much we do.

Ingredients

For Chicken Fillings:

250 grams - Chicken breast (boneless)

1 - Medium onion, chopped

3 - Green chilly, chopped

2 1/2 - Ginger Garlic paste

1/4 tsp - Cumin powder (Jeera powder)

1/4 tsp - Chilly powder

1/4 + 1/8 tsp - Turmeric powder

1 tsp - Garam masala

1 tsp - Black Pepper powder

2 tbsp - oil

Salt to taste

For wrappers:

1 1/2 cup - All purpose flour (Maida)

3 tbsp - Cornflour

1 - Egg

3/4 cup - water

salt to taste

For deep fry:

2 cups - Bread crumbs

2 - Egg whites, Only

vegetable oil

Recipe Direction

1. To prepare the chicken fillings: Firstly, cook the clean chicken with 1/8 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp pepper and salt to taste

2. Once cooked, shred the chicken and let it cool

3. Now heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and add onions & green chilly

4. Saute well till the onion turns golden brown

5. Now add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell disappears

6. Also add cumin, turmeric, garam, chilly powder & salt to taste

7. Once the raw smell disappears, add the shredded chicken

8. Turn the heat to medium low and cook for about 3 -4 minutes

9. Once cooked and well combined, set it aside

10. To prepare the wrappers: In a medium bowl whisk together, all purpose flour, corn flour, egg, water and salt to taste

11. Whisk them to a smooth pancake like batter without lumps (This is the time to adjust the consistently for the wrappers according to the thickness you want by adding more or less water)

12. Meanwhile heat the flat pan and pour the batter & make thin wrappers

13. Once the wrappers are ready, place about 2 - 3 tsp of the chicken fillings in the middle

14. Fold the wrappers - top edge of the wrappers over the fillings then fold the side towards the center, and then roll firmly. Make sure to seal all the sides (See pic in Additional notes)

15. To prepare deep fry: In a small bowl prepare egg whites and in another bowl prepare bread crumbs

16. Now dip the roll first in the egg whites and then coat well with bread crumbs

17. Repeat step 16 again, (2 coats for each roll)

18. Meanwhile, heat oil in a deep pan with medium high flame

19. Deep fry the rolls till it turns golden on all sides

20. Serve hot and enjoy while it lasts

Additional Notes

1. The steps may seem many but this actually a very simple recipe

2. You can adapt panner instead of chicken for vegetarian option

3. Its crucial to seal all sides off the rolls before deep frying them


















4. Make sure to coat enough bread crumbs for crispy outer layer

5. Also Make sure to heat oil above the boiling point for better results
