Green peas Pulao Recipe

Pulao is a simple rice recipe by combining rice, various spices and vegetables. Since most of us are in home during this pandemic and making the same dish repeatedly, I decided to give this recipe a magic by adding a little pinch of edible green food coloring because why not !

Cook Time: 25 Minutes
Total Time: 35 Minutes

Ingredients
1 Cup – Basmati Rice
½ Cup – Green Peas
1 Onion – Finely Sliced
2 Green Chilly – Roughly slit
1 - Bay Leaf
1 Inch - Cinnamon
2 Pods - Green Cardamom
3 - Cloves
2 tsp - Cumin
3 tbsp - Ghee
2 Cups - Water
Salt to taste
Edible Green Food color (*Optional)
Recipe Direction
1. Firstly, in a medium bowl wash and soak the rice for about 30 minutes
2. In a medium pressure cooker, add ghee and heat it for about 1 - 2 minutes
3. Now add bay leaf, cinnamon, green cardamom, cloves and cumin and saute well
4. Also, add onions and green chilly and let it cook for about 4- 5 minutes until the onion turns golden brown
5. Also add peas and saute for about 1 minute
6. Now add 2 cups of water and salt to taste, bring it to gentle boil
7. Add the green food color (*Completely Optional)
8. Add the soaked rice, Pressure cook for 1 whistle and turn off the heat
9. Let it rest of about 20 minutes before opening the pressure cooker
10. Serve hot and enjoy while it lasts
Additional Notes
1. Its important to soak the rice before cooking for better texture
2. You can add endless vegetables of your choice
3. This can be served with a good raita and some yum panner fry.
